Don´t look for what you don’t really want to find

Remember the time when I used to dig into trash cans and under the bed or even on the dirty clothes basket to find evidence that would make me decide that I was being cheated on.
I did find everything a lover can find to stop caring and even so, didn’t left. Once, I showed up on his apartment after midnight. He opened the door and I saw another guy was in his bed, as naked as he was. I got in and sat down on the sofa, waiting for the guy to get his clothes on and leave. He just looked at me once, I stared at him all the time… even had the time to see my lover’s reaction: He was as amused as I was.

The guy left, I went to the bathroom and looked at the trash can, there it was a condom with no cum in it. I thought about the multiple meanings of a used condom with no sperm in it:
a dull, boring fuck
a rough unprotected sex with a stranger
a sudden regret on one side of the equation

I finished to pee, took my clothes off and got in bed with my lover, who was staring at me, waiting for who-knows what reaction from me:
a jealous scene
a punch
a speech
a weep

I turned my back on him and hugged the pillow.
He put his arm around me and kissed my neck and shoulder.
Ten minutes later we were asleep.
